Training And Capacity Building

The Office of the Chief Adviser Cost is responsible for providing the training to the ICoAS Cadre Officers posted in different Ministries / Departments as well as in the Office of CAC. The Office nominates ICoAS Officers for various short / long term

courses sponsored by DoPT and Seminars/Workshops organised by various professional bodies.

The Office also organizes in-house training:

  • to enhance / update professional knowledge of ICoAS Officers.
  • to share the knowledge amongst ICoAS Officers.
  • on presentation skill of Officers.

Normally, one short duration program is conducted on third Wednesday of every month on the subject of professional knowledge and other relevant subject, which are considered useful for the ICoAS officers. The basic focus of the short duration programmes is to promote sharing of the knowledge amongst ICoAS officers and occasionally outside professionals/ experts are also invited as speakers to deliver the lecture. The following programmes have been conducted:

  • Viability of Indian Sugar Industry.
  • Examination of proposal for procurement of Arcanut under MIS by State Govt.
  • Performance Analysis of Electricity Distribution Utilities in Post Reform Period.
  • AS 22 AS 10- Accounting for Taxes on Income Fixed Assets.
  • Analysis of Competition in Wholesale Electricity Market in India.
  • Formatting the Report: Use of Templates.
  • Issues after the Report.
  • Sharing of experience in major Cost and Pricing Studies.
  • Latest developments in Cost Accounting and Cost Audit.

In addition to the above, one full day / multiple half day workshop is also conducted normally, in every quarter of the year.

The workshops are organized for enhancing and updating the professional knowledge of ICoAS officers and the subjects for the workshop are selected based on their importance and relevance. The following programmes have been conducted:

  • Workshop (five half working days) on “Computer Skill and Business Communication”.
  • One day workshop on “Role of ICoAS Officers in Customs, Central Excise and Service Tax”.
  • One day workshop on “Undertaking Major Studies”.
